Typical barkadang Pinoys enjoy their overnights with the classic videoke and huge amount of drinking Red Horse. While there is no problem with that as it was able to serve its purpose for a long time, why not let’s spice up the typical barkada bonding with awesome cardboard games that would surely add a lot of excitement for your next overnight stay!

Me and my friends have tried numerous cardboard games and there are some that really standout while others are not really fit for us.

So I’m gonna list the top 5 I think that will make your barkada night ecstatic!

#5 One Night Ultimate Werewolf

One Night Ultimate Werewolf is a fast-paced game where everyone gets to be a different role. In the course of only one night and the following morning, the players will determine who among them is a werewolf…hopefully. One Night Ultimate Werewolf is a microgame of the party game Ultimate Werewolf that doesn’t need a moderator. There’s no elimination, and each game lasts about 10 minutes.

Players: 5 – 10 players

This game consists of element of surprise, lie, deception and deciphering. You will literally go nuts when trying to find out who the hell werewolf is! If you are not a practitioner of lying you might get caught easily if you are the werewolf. Natural liars has a lot of chance winning this game! Just a warning, this game can ruin your friendship. ?

TIP: Try to check the behavior of your “chismoso / chismosa” friend. If he / she is acting weird, the probability of him being the werewolf is higher as chismoso and chismosa is not fond of shutting up their mouths.  ?

#4 The Resistance: Avalon

The Resistance: Avalon pits the forces of Good and Evil in a battle to control the future of civilization. Arthur represents the future of Britain, a promise of prosperity and honor, yet hidden among his brave warriors are Mordred’s unscrupulous minions. These forces of evil are few in number but have knowledge of each other and remain hidden from all but one of Arthur’s servants. Merlin alone knows the agents of evil, but he must speak of this only in riddles. If his true identity is discovered, all will be lost.

Players: 5 – 10 players

Just a friendly tip, do not play this game if you have a dumb friend as this game can be ruined easily if you do not know how to be a manipulator (Sorry for the realtalk ?). Careful strategy is required to win this game. You really have to be vigilant on all your actions. There is always a right timing before saying anything for it is always easy to give clues to your enemies. Again, this game is requires you to lie and deceive your enemies. Be careful with the assasin!

#3 Coup

In Coup, you are head of a family in an Italian city-state, a city run by a weak and corrupt court. You need to manipulate, bluff and bribe your way to power. Your object is to destroy the influence of all the other families, forcing them into exile. Only one family will survive…

In Coup, you want to be the last player with influence in the game, with influence being represented by face-down character cards in your playing area.

Players: 2-6 players

Damn! Another lying game in the list. Don’t get us wrong! My friends and I are not liars in nature it’s just that bluffing games are awesome. It is hard choice for me to place Coup in the 3rd place coz’ my friends really loved the game a lot. However, the game gives you a point in where you cannot counter a play called “Coup” and you are just forced to discard a playing card. I don’t know but I don’t what to feel helpless at times ?

#2 Exploding Kittens

Exploding Kittens is a kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players take turns drawing cards until someone draws an exploding kitten and loses the game. The deck is made up of cards that let you avoid exploding by peeking at cards before you draw, forcing your opponent to draw multiple cards, or shuffling the deck.

Players: 2 – 5 players

Who doesn’t love cats?

I personally love cats unless it will try to explode the hell out of me. The game is so exciting not just because of these cute graphics of cats in the cards but because the gameplay is so damn palpitating! ?Avoiding to explode via cats is damn stressful. The game just got only better when the deck is starting to diminished meaning the chance of you exploding increases! This game requires anticipation, patience and strategy too making it suitable to adults too despite of the childish graphics. You gotta play this one!

#1 Secret Hitler

Secret Hitler is a dramatic game of political intrigue and betrayal set in 1930s Germany. Each player is randomly and secretly assigned to be a liberal or a fascist, and one player is Secret Hitler. The fascists coordinate to sow distrust and install their cold-blooded leader; the liberals must find and stop the Secret Hitler before it’s too late. The liberal team always has a majority.

Players: 5 – 10 players

And the winner goes to Secret Hitler and is another lying and bluffing game! HAHA! This will let you question the integrity of your friends. This had me going crazy as one of my friend maintained a consistent behavior in both being a fascist and a liberal.  This game required you to lie big time in order to protect Hitler and assign him as the Chancellor to win the game for you as Fascist. The Liberals on the otherhand must have an extraordinary investigative skills. The game is full of plot twists and WTF moments, I swear. You think you know the Liberals are? Wait until they enact a fascist policy ?

Before trying anything else in the list, buy this game first!
