Since I started as a developer, I was never a fan of any apple products. Aside from I don’t really have the means to buy one, I hate how everything in apple needs to be purchased. For instance, if I was just starting to be a developer, I will have to pay for Php 5000 annual fee to be able to get a development certificate. I also need a Php 100,000+ worth of computer to develop native applications when there are other cheaper alternatives.
Everything changed when my company decided to buy a mac mini so I can develop an app for IOS. Damn, I will never forget the feeling I felt when I started opening the hardware. The clean and sleek UI is incomparable with other OS (I am used to using Ubuntu). The elegance of the keyboard while I’m touching it, damn It was like I am touching a treasure of some sort. The mouse is God sent (that’s maybe why they call it the “Magic Mouse” ?). Bear with my innocence because that is actually the first time I used an apple product!
That moment completely changed how I view apple products. In my mind, I needed to buy one!
Long story short, I was able to buy a Macbook Pro.
The change in me is so noticeable. I became productive and became so eager to learn new things! Thanks to my friend and mentor Melvin for sharing his licensed softwares with me and igniting my interests on different things I can learn with my new Macbook Pro.
Here is the list of things I am currently studying and interested with.
I am not totally new to IOS App development. We were able to develop an app using Nativescript instead of Swift in my current company without using Xcode. The thought of I will now be able to use Swift for development put me in euphoria of satisfaction. I am really excited with what application I could make with these technologies in my arsenal right now ?Do you have an idea? Do you have a startup idea? Feel free to reach me so we can talk about it ?
Yeah I know that is a shameless plug there ?
Final Cut Pro!
Thanks again to my friend for allowing me to have a little share for this awesome bundle of Video Editing tools. I have now Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro X and Motion installed on my mac and I am very excited on what things I can create. I always have plans on making my own Vlog in the future so this might be the right time.
It is always hard to work with docker when it comes to Windows system (or is it just me?). But with Mac, everything works just fine (aside from the hardware is heating up when building images). I am always a fan of Linux systems, but MacOS is a different kind of experience in terms of development.
This one is a decent counterpart of Adobe Photoshop in MacOS (though you can install PS on Mac as well). The main difference is the price, Affinity Photo is worth 2500 php for perpetual license while you have to pay 1000 php monthly just to use Adobe Photoshop. Affinity is the clear winner here.
Affinity is also a pretty decent tool in terms of simple photo editing. I am not a photo manipulator wizard but Affinity can serve me well for my usage.
You can contest that you can write on other platforms as well, then explain how I was able to start my blogsite right after I bought a Macbook Pro? ?(pun intended)
Kidding aside, buying Macbook Pro triggered me to start my blog that I planned many years ago. So there is really some sort of magic happening here right?
it is never my intention to brag about me buying a Macbook. My sole purpose for writing this is to shed some light to that someone right now that is having a hard time whether it is worth the money to buy a new macbook or not. My suggestion for you, confused one, is just buy it. ?
I can say that it is really worth it owning a macbook. However, it is not really important what tools you are currently using right now. What’s important is you strive for continuous improvement of your crafts ❤️
